The Faculty of Law announces, with great institutional satisfaction, the claim by our colleagues, Prof. univ. dr. Dan Andrei Popescu and Assoc. univ. dr. Elena Alina Oprea, of the “Simion Bărnuțiu” award of the Romanian Academy.
This award was granted for the work Dan Andrei Popescu, Elena Alina Oprea, Drept internațional privat, Ed. Hamangiu, București, 2023.
A beautiful description of the spirit of this work can be found on the Hamangiu Publishing House website: “When private relationships are “complicated” by the existence of an (or some) element(s) of foreignness, we step (unconsciously?!) into the territory of Private International Law – the frightening desert in which you cannot easily fix and identify your landmarks, in which the wind blows simultaneously from several directions (with which the relationship has connections), the desert in which the storm is never absent and which tires you from the first steps, but which nevertheless invites you, attracts you through its mystery and emptiness. The desert that seems to hide nothing from you, that incites you, that spontaneously inoculates you with the idea of an easy path, but which often surprises you unprepared – especially when it has become too late to turn back; which does not allow you to establish paths for others, just as it does not reveal to you the paths and paths of others; the desert that forces you to fight, to set your benchmarks, to gather your arguments, to clarify and order your thinking, to substantiate your reasoning, which, in any case, teaches you how to survive or which leaves you alone… to die”.
