On 14 September 2025, between 16:30 and 18:00, the Alexandru Angelescu Auditorium of the Faculty of Law will host the final round of the Faculty of Law Open, an academic debate competition bringing together some of the best teams of students from Romania.

This year’s edition is held In Memoriam Xenia Burghelea, in remembrance of an alumna of the Faculty of Law, lawyer and mentor of the Faculty’s Debate Club, who inspired successive generations of students through her passion and dedication.

“The Faculty of Law Open” is today the most important academic debating tournament in Romania in the British Parliamentary format,  the same format used in major British universities. Year after year, BBU Debate Society has transformed this competition into a tradition, maintaining international standards and offering students an experience similar to those at Oxford or Cambridge.

Through the BBU Debate Society, Babeș-Bolyai University remains the only higher education institution in Romania providing such an opportunity to its students.
