The Faculty of Law proudly announces an exceptional new publication: D. Nițu, F. Streteanu, D. Ionescu, IEL Criminal Law. Romania, Wolters Kluwer, 2025.
The „International Encyclopaedia of Laws” series, a project of the Wolters Kluwer publishing group, comprises monographs covering 25 areas of legal practice, authored by more than 1,200 experts worldwide. The volume dedicated to Criminal Law is published under the coordination of editors Vanessa Franssen, Mona Giacometti, and Stanislaw Tosza.
The series aims to provide essential knowledge for understanding the principles of criminal justice and criminal procedure across a significant number of jurisdictions worldwide, examining in detail, for each jurisdiction, the general principles of criminal law, the principles of criminal liability, and the causes excluding criminal responsibility.
Following an effort that began in 2014, our colleagues — Professor Florin Streteanu, Associate Professor Dr. Daniel Nițu (responsible for the substantive criminal law section), and Senior Lecturer Diana Ionescu (responsible for the criminal procedure section) — successfully completed and published, in July 2025, the monograph dedicated to Romania.
The volume comprises nearly 500 pages, and further details are available on the dedicated page of the Wolters Kluwer website.
