The Faculty of Law in Cluj cannot forget its past, it lives in the present and cannot ignore the future.

The past has sometimes been generous to Cluj Law, and at other times it has offered it less happy moments. Legal education has known integration into the system of European universities and, equally, the pressure of the times or regimes. Legal principles, norms and doctrines have been discussed in the Aula Magna, and in the former dormitory of Cluj students. Legal matters have been written and spoken in Latin, German, Hungarian, Romanian, more recently in French or English.

The present shows us a Faculty of Law that uses tradition as an argument to teach, claim and achieve excellence. A European, open, modern Faculty of Law, certainly one of the best law faculties in Romania. Graduating Law in Cluj is not a simple expression, but a description of the substance of an academic effort that involves connecting to a set of academic principles and values, knowledge of legal sciences, integration into a living academic community, development of critical legal thinking and understanding of Law.

The future certainly holds things that we do not know and that we may not even be able to foresee. But the future cannot ignore Cluj Law. Despite the technological, historical, economic or social challenges, the professors of the Faculty of Law in Cluj continue to aim to train first-rate jurists, equipped with the theoretical and practical skills necessary to face any challenges.

The Faculty of Law in Cluj has been, is and will be an inclusive one or, more correctly, one that excludes no one. We strive to maintain our position as an equally influential and admired Law School. We want to be an academic destination for both students and professors, but also a future academic benchmark in legal sciences for alumni. We want everyone to find in Cluj a place of intellectual adventure in the legal field, an opportunity for professional and personal fulfillment, an open door for an educational partnership, a new challenge in the field of scientific research, or a strong and convincing voice in contemporary society. We try to place in a complete, logical and orderly system a legal field that is sometimes characterized by uncertainty and doubt.

The Faculty of Law is what we manage to make of it. The tradition and excellence in the motto of Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca obliges us to evolve, to use our entire academic DNA, to write our educational and legal future, in order to then be able to say that in a diverse world of law faculties, the Faculty of Law in Cluj has its well-defined place.
