The Faculty of Law continues its collaboration with Hamangiu Publishing House in the new premises to establish and maintain a legal bookstore.
With a rich editorial experience, Hamangiu Publishing House has published, in almost 20 years of existence, more than 2,000 titles, which have sold over 2.5 million copies. Some of the titles are currently being updated, since, having as main documentary sources the text of the law and the decision of the case, the legal book is, by its nature, subject to a permanent process of revision and updating.

Although Hamangiu Publishing House initially became known for its practical book collections – the series of Codes and Commented Laws, Jurisprudence and Practical Comments being the favorites of a large number of jurists – the legislative revolution of 2011-2014, when all four major codes (civil, civil procedure, criminal and criminal procedure) were adopted and entered into force, subjected the legal doctrine to a large effort to assimilate and interpret this huge legislative block, an effort that continues even 10 years after the codes entered into force.
At the same time, the modification of academic rules and standards has channeled a good part of the effort of academic staff towards scientific research, research that has also translated into a large number of legal articles and studies, university courses, seminar notebooks, test collections and cases for the preparation of law students and graduates for admission to the legal professions.
As a result, the collections of University Books, Competitions and Exams or Monographs currently hold absolute supremacy in the publication offer of Hamangiu Publishing House. If they had to choose only from the titles included in this catalog, any student, from any law faculty in Romania, can learn and prepare successfully for all subjects, starting with the first year of study and up to the entrance exams and competitions or final exams in the legal professions. Depending on the level of each reader, the editorial offer of Hamangiu Publishing House includes from the simplest textbooks and introductory books in a certain discipline of study to the most complex treatises and commentaries.
In addition to changes in legislation and jurisprudence, the study and practice of law are increasingly impacted by innovations in the IT (information technology) field. Even though we remain an editorial team dedicated to printed books, an important segment of our activity in recent years is also allocated to electronic formats. Today’s readers can browse and read 99% of the books and articles of the Hamangiu Publishing House online, through the digital platform Hamangiu Library. Another platform – Grile Hamangiu – represents an excellent online preparation resource for all students and graduates on the verge of exams and admission and completion competitions in the legal professions.
We recognize that we do not know how legal research, writing and documentation will evolve under the impact of the (still little perceived) revolution of artificial intelligence. However, we are confident that, as long as humanity is guided by laws and rules of law that govern human states and communities, the deliberation process and the final decision in the adoption, implementation and application of these rules will always remain the prerogative of the human mind and legal consciousness. In order to train legal thinking and to educate this human consciousness, that is, for the lawyer of the future, Hamangiu Publishing House will continue to document, edit and publish relevant and current legal information, in all the forms and formats in which it will be necessary.
