{"id":5319,"date":"2025-05-10T19:05:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T19:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lawen.ite.ro\/?p=5319"},"modified":"2025-12-03T17:17:55","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T17:17:55","slug":"the-eufire-re-international-conference-welcomed-professor-pasquale-pistone-to-romania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lawen.ite.ro\/en\/news\/international-mobilities-participations-and-events\/the-eufire-re-international-conference-welcomed-professor-pasquale-pistone-to-romania\/","title":{"rendered":"The EUFIRE-RE International Conference Welcomed Professor Pasquale Pistone to Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>On 9 May 2025, professors of the Faculty of Law in Cluj (Senior Lecturer\u00a0 Septimiu Pu\u021b &#8211; Vice-Dean of the Faculty ; Professor Ovidiu Podaru; \u00a0and Associate Professor Cosmin Flavius Costa\u0219 participated in the <em>EUFIRE-RE International Conference<\/em> held in Ia\u0219i, under the general theme <em>\u201cThe Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence in the EU Market.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\r\n<p>The <em>EUFIRE-RE<\/em> project, funded by the European Union, was implemented during the period 2022\u20132025 at <em>Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Ia\u0219i<\/em>, under the coordination of Professor Mihaela Tofan.<\/p>\r\n<p>The conference was highlighted by the presence in Romania of Professor Pasquale Pistone, <em>keynote speaker<\/em>. A distinguished figure in the field of international tax law, Professor Pistone is the Academic Chairman of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation, <em>Jean Monnet Professor of European Tax Law and Policy<\/em> at the <em>WU Vienna University of Economics and Business<\/em> (Austria), and <em>Associate Professor<\/em> at the <em>University of Salerno<\/em> (Italy). He is also the Secretary General of the European Association of Tax Law Professors and a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Fiscal Association.<\/p>\r\n<p>At Ia\u0219i, Professor Pistone delivered an outstanding speech entitled <em>\u201cThe Use of AI in Tax Procedures: Selected Issues from the Constitutional, EU Law and ECHR Perspectives\u201d<\/em> and actively participated in all sessions of the conference.<\/p>\r\n<p>During the proceedings, Associate Professor Cosmin Flavius Costa\u0219 chaired the <em>tax law panel<\/em> (entirely in English) and presented the paper <em>\u201cTax Profiling as a Tool for Taxing Unjustified Income in Romania.\u201d<\/em> Professors Septimiu Pu\u021b and Ovidiu Podaru also contributed with the papers <em>\u201cOn the Real Swiftness of Justice, With and Without Artificial Intelligence\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201cLaw, Taxes, Vandalism, Art &#8230; and an Impossible Choice,\u201d<\/em> respectively.<\/p>\r\n<p>The <em>EUFIRE-RE Conference<\/em> proved to be an excellent opportunity for constructive dialogue between Romanian and European tax law scholars, opening promising perspectives for future research projects in which the professors of the Faculty of Law in Cluj will play an active role.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 9 May 2025, professors of the Faculty of Law in Cluj (Senior Lecturer\u00a0 Septimiu Pu\u021b &#8211; Vice-Dean of the Faculty ; Professor Ovidiu Podaru; \u00a0and Associate Professor Cosmin Flavius Costa\u0219 participated in the EUFIRE-RE International Conference held in Ia\u0219i, under the general theme \u201cThe Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence in the EU Market.\u201d The [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":5318,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[36],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-5319","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-international-mobilities-participations-and-events"},"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.1.1 -
